The Intergalactic Krewe of Chewbacchus (IKoC) is a Mardi Gras parade organization for revelrous Star Wars freaks, Trekkies, Whovians, mega-geeks, gamers, cosplayers, circuit benders, cryptozoologists, UFO conspiracy theorists, mad scientists, and all super nerds. Chewbacchus is founded on improving the known ‘Verse through community and revelry. In joining together to craft, costume, parade, and socialize, we build stronger connections and a better world.

This year’s theme, “Chewbacchus XIV: The Rise of the Superb Owl,” celebrates both the Superb Owl’s cosmic wisdom and the humorous misinterpretation featured in What We Do in the Shadows, where vampires mistake a Super Bowl party for a grand celebration of a mythical “Superb Owl.” With the Super Bowl set to take place in New Orleans, Chewbacchus has adapted its parade weekend to keep the cosmic revelry rolling, honoring both the “Superb Owl” and our diverse fandom in quintessential Chewbacchus style.

The Krewe of Chewbacchus invites fans, friends, and followers of all fandoms to gather on February 1, 2025, for a cosmic celebration of humor, creativity, and the unifying power of fandom. Raise your glasses, bandoliers, and lightsabers high as we honor the Sacred Drunken Wookiee, the rise of the Superb Owl, and the galactic talents of Mark Proksch and Meghan Davis. Together, we journey forward into a night filled with cosmic wonder and the enduring spirit of celebration.

Join Us for an Out-of-This-World Celebration

The Revel Force Brass band will of course be in prime form as we live up to our mission heralding the Intergalactic Krewe.

The parade will roll from Franklin Avenue and St. Claude Avenue, proceed along Elysian Fields, and journey up Decatur Street, ending at Decatur and Conti Street.

The published route spans 2.0 miles, and will likely take around 2 to 2.5 hrs to traverse.

Due to a reduction in capacity to have support vehicles at all, no personal items will be allowed on a support trike. No, you cannot stash your case on the trike, or drop costume items that became too cumbersome. Honestly, we’ve been doing better about this with this group, but it seems important to note for new folks. If you want to have your case, you need to be ready to carry it. If you didn’t test your garb enough, and it stops being wearable, congrats, you now have a covetable throw item. Pass it with pride to a grateful parade fan.

The trike shall be used only for carrying water and supplies to address medical needs en route.

Lineup for ZONE – A (our assigned zone) is from 4pm to 4:30pm Saturday. Contraption, trike must be present by 4:30. All Musicians are expected to be present for 6pm, to begin warmups.  We roll promptly at 7pm.
